The National Weather Service says more than an inch of rain could fall by Friday.

It’s looking to be a wet and windy end to the workweek in the Big Apple.
Rain will move into the New York metro area starting Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Precipitation totals could reach 1.5 inches by Thursday night, and gusts could ratchet up to 25 mph.
“We could still have a few lingering showers Thursday night, Friday,” said meteorologist John Murray, adding that the risk of significant flooding is low. “This is a steady, light, overrunning rainfall.”
Temperatures will drop Thursday, which will have highs in the mid 50s. Murray said that’s about 15 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year, when highs are typically in the low 70s.
Periods of rainfall are expected Wednesday into Thursday night as a broad low pressure system traverses the area. 1-2 inches are expected from mainly light to moderate rainfall. Flooding is not expected to be a major issue with, at worst, minor nuisance flooding possible. pic.twitter.com/mmaPzEitxA

The chances of showers will persist Friday but decrease over the weekend, according to the forecast. Cloudy skies will hang on through Saturday.
Murray said to expect “totally dry conditions” and more sunshine Sunday, as well as a rebound in temperatures, which will likely hit the 70s.
