Queens Man Shot Dead After Dispute Over Parking Spot

A 24-year-old man was fatally shot in front of his mother last night following a dispute over a parking spot in Jamaica, Queens. Darrell Lynch was killed shortly before 7:30 p.m. as he and his mother returned to their vehicle, which was parked on 113th Avenue near 155th Street. Lynch's mother, who has not yet been identified, tells police the gunman had argued with them earlier about the parking spot, and he was waiting with a gun when they returned.

Lynch was also armed, and police sources tell the dailies that his mother grabbed his gun and fired rounds at the fleeing assailant. Lynch, who had prior arrests for reckless endangerment, was not licensed to carry the firearm, and sources say his mother may be charged for firing her son's gun.

The gunshot wound to Lynch's left leg ruptured his femoral artery; he attempted to drive away but quickly passed out from blood loss. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital and pronounced dead. His killer remains at large.

In 2011, a dispute over a parking spot on East 14th Street devolved into violence, sending a woman into a nine day coma after a man punched her in the face.
