Police say a thermostat repairman tried to lure a teenage student into his SUV while she was on her way to school

An employee with the Department of Education was arrested Thursday night for attempting to kidnap a 15-year-old girl, according to police.
Yogeshwar Narine, 32, allegedly approached the teen Wednesday at around 8:20 a.m. while she was walking to school near the intersection of Francis Lewis Boulevard and 113th Road in Queens Village.
Police said he attempted to grab the teen and pull her into his black SUV, but she was able to break free and run away uninjured.
According to NYPD officials, Narine was working for the DOE as a thermostat repairman, and may have serviced multiple schools, though he did not work directly with students.
The DOE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
