A subway train fatally struck a man who was subway surfing at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park station on Tuesday morning, according to police, causing extensive disruptions to the B and Q lines in the hours following the morning commuter rush.

Police have not publicly identified the man, who was in his 50s. Authorities found him on the tracks of the Prospect Park station shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and pronounced him dead at the scene.

An MTA spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment on how the fall transpired. Police said they did not suspect criminality, adding that their investigation was ongoing.

B and Q trains were delayed in both directions, but normal service had resumed by Tuesday afternoon.

The man was the second person this week reported to have been fatally struck by a New York City subway train.

Another man was hit by a train at Union Square in Manhattan during the morning commuter rush on Monday after allegedly jumping in front of a Brooklyn-bound Q train. Police have still not identified him.
