NYPD: Husband, 85, stabs and kills wife, 87, in their Staten Island home

Police say the woman was found in the couple's home and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

An 85-year-old man stabbed and killed his wife in a domestic dispute at their home on Staten Island, police said Saturday.

Pitarbhai Khristi was charged with second-degree murder after NYPD officials say he stabbed his wife Laxmiben Khristi, 87, in the chest.

At around 11:30 Thursday night police arrived at the couple's home at 33 Carmel Court near the Dongan Hills neighborhood of northeastern Staten Island. Officers discovered the woman with a stab wound to her chest, but police couldn't say specifically what prompted the attack.

She was taken to Staten Island University North Campus but could not be saved and was later declared dead.

Pitarbhai Khristi was immediately taken into custody and was later arrested and charged with murder.
