Thanks to the big snow accumulation overnight (according to NY1, "Central Park received 11" of snow overnight, in addition to the four inches that fell on Wednesday"), the MTA has suspended all NYC Transit and MTA bus service to avoid scenes like ones during the blizzard. Some subway service was suspended too, though all lines have been restored now. Update: Now, as of 9:30 a.m., the MTA has restored limited service to some bus lines. Here's what the transit agency says about NYC Transit bus and subway, plus Metro-North and LIRR:
The MTA is working hard to restore service in the aftermath of a storm that dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of the region. Service is suspended in parts of the system as crews continue to remove snow and ice from tracks, switches, stations and roadways. Please check back to MTA.info for the latest updates, allow extra time and be careful when walking and boarding.
New York City Subway The majority of the subway system is operating, with service restored to lines serving Coney Island's Stillwell Terminal and the North Bronx. Q service has been restored between Prospect Park to Stillwell Avenue. The Franklin Avenue Shuttle is also suspended. SIRTOA is operating limited service between Tottenville and St. George.
