The New York City medical examiner has announced that it is unable to determine what killed Avonte Oquendo.

The office of the New York City medical examiner announced yesterday that it is unable to determine what killed Avonte Oquendo, the 14-year-old autistic boy who disappeared from his Queens home in October, spurring a frenzied citywide search. Remains discovered in College Point, Queens were determined in January to be his.
Police posit the boy may have tumbled into the water near his Long Island City school and drowned, the Daily News reports.
Avonte was last seen running out of his school on October 4th. Since he was autistic and could not verbally communicate, there was an extensive search from the NYPD, MTA, and volunteers. A $95,000 reward was offered, to no avail.
