Mayor Eric Adams to meet with President-elect Trump to 'discuss NYC priorities'

Deputy Mayor Fabien Levy says Adams is ready to collaborate with the incoming administration.

Mayor Eric Adams is scheduled to meet with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday to “discuss New Yorkers’ priorities,” a mayoral spokesperson said on Thursday.
The meeting follows Trump’s recent remarks suggesting he would consider pardoning the New York City mayor, who is currently under multiple investigations, including a federal inquiry.
"Tomorrow, Mayor Adams will sit down with President-elect Trump and discuss New Yorkers’ priorities," Deputy Mayor Fabien Levy said in a statement. "The mayor looks forward to having a productive conversation with the incoming president on how we can move our city and country forward."
Adams recently pleaded not guilty to allegations of accepting bribes and illegal donations from individuals with ties to the Turkish government to fund his mayoral campaign. His trial is scheduled for April.
Adams previously met with Trump’s incoming "border czar," Tom Homan, in December. After the meeting, Adams announced plans to pursue an executive order to roll back some of the city’s sanctuary protections, adding that he and Homan “share the same desire” to “go after” undocumented immigrants who commit repeated violent acts.
“Mayor Adams has made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers — and that partnership with the federal government is critical to New York City's success," Levy said.
