A man reportedly slipped on a banana peel and fell into the subway tracks in front of an oncoming train this afternoon. Thankfully, the train stopped in time and he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries, but the incident does raise the question: who is tossing banana peels on subway platforms?
The Daily News reports that 37-year-old Manuel Cadiz, who lives in Staten Island, tripped on the aforementioned peel on the uptown 4 platform at the Bowling Green station at around 2:30 p.m. today. He fell onto the tracks just as the train began to pull into the station. "There was a banana peel,” Cadiz told the tabloid. “ I didn't see it. I just slipped in the track."
Luckily, the train conductor halted the train; Cadiz was pulled off the tracks by people waiting on the platform. He was taken from the station by EMT workers and may have suffered a broken foot, though no other injuries have been reported.
