Man Dies After Reportedly Jumping Onto Van Wyck Expressway And Getting Hit By SUV Driver

A man reportedly jumped from an overpass onto the Van Wyck Expressway last night and died after being struck by an SUV driver.
An unidentified man who fell from an overpass onto the Van Wyck Expressway was struck by the driver of an SUV and died on Saturday night.
According to the NYPD, police responded to a call about an emotionally disturbed man near Jamaica Avenue and the Van Wyck Expressway sometime around 10:20 p.m. last night. When they arrived on the scene, they saw a 25-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive on the Van Wyck.
EMS took the man to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a police spokesperson, an initial investigation by the NYPD showed that the man fell off the overpass and onto the highway, where he was then struck by the driver of a black SUV. The driver remained on the scene.
Police told the News that the man jumped from the overpass before being struck by the driver of the car.
