There's a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain in parts of NYC right now as the Nor'Easter starts staggering toward us like an abominable snow monster with a terrible toothache. This satellite image is from Weather Underground; check out their fun radar map showing two storms barreling into New York State from the south and, from the west, an Alberta Clipper.
The storm is expected to strengthen as the day goes on, with warm water temperatures along the East Coast allowing for "rapid strengthening" of the blizzard. The bulk of the snow is expected to accumulate overnight, with current forecasts calling for anywhere from six to 12 inches in NYC. Obviously, it's a little too early to accurately predict how much snow we're going to get, but the current consensus is that it's going to be a significant amount. Stick around.
