Coney Island’s Luna Park will open daily for spring break

Coney Island’s Luna Park plans to be open daily as a million New York City students ditch classes for Spring Break, park operators said.
The park is currently open only on weekends. The extended hours will run from Friday, April 19 to Tuesday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Local elected officials have piled onto some of its rides to celebrate the start of summer including Mayor Eric Adams. Coney Island has long been synonymous with summer in the city, and local leaders have been eager to boost its fortunes after it shuttered during the pandemic.
College students can use their IDs and emails to access discount tickets and food during select days throughout the season as part of its “College Days” program.
Luna Park, home to the century-old wooden Cyclone, also added a new roller-coaster: Tony’s Express. The park plans to debut electric powered go-karts later this year and is upgrading its arcades and adding more stores.
The park will once again open daily after Memorial Day.
