Brooklyn public housing fire injures 12 people, officials say

The fire broke out Wednesday morning at the Langston Hughes Houses in Brownsville, according to the FDNY

At least 12 people were injured in a fire Wednesday at an apartment building in Brownsville, Brooklyn — including one person who was critically wounded, according to the FDNY.
Officials said the fire broke out at around 9:50 a.m. at 315 Sutter Ave., part of NYCHA’s Langston Hughes Apartments, a public housing complex in the heart of the neighborhood.
Firefighters got the blaze under control within about half an hour, the department said. The 12 people were taken to nearby hospitals.
At 9:50 this morning, the FDNY responded to a report of a fire at 315 Sutter Avenue in Brooklyn. Units responded under 3 minutes. 12 civilian patients have been transported including one with life-threatening injuries. Fire is under control as of 10:21am

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. A NYCHA spokesperson referred a request for comment to the FDNY
