Police said two people riding bikes may have been connected to the incident, but had fled the scene.

A teenage boy was fatally shot in SoHo on Tuesday afternoon, the NYPD said.
Police said gunshots were reported around 2:30 p.m. near a plaza across the street from 233 Spring St. There, responding officers found a 16-year-old with gunshot wounds to his head and thigh, officials said. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Police said two people riding bikes may have been connected to the incident, but had fled the scene. No arrests were immediately made, the NYPD said.
Olga Kotova works in a building across the street from the scene and said she and her coworkers approached the window overlooking the street after hearing a commotion. She said she saw someone laying on the ground, surrounded by a group of young people.
“Well, if I ever have kids I will be worried about my kids, that’s for sure,” said Kotova, who is originally from Hungary. “Once you come from Europe, you already think this country is insane in this way, but it’s just unbelievably sad.”
The victim has not yet been publicly identified pending family notification.
Authorities said the investigation was ongoing.
