Officials said the incident happened less than a mile from where a 16-year-old girl was fatally shot Monday.

A 20-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy were injured in the Bronx on Tuesday afternoon when gunfire pierced their car, striking the man in the arm and wounding the boy with broken glass, NYPD officials said.
The shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. on 163rd Street and Elton Avenue in Morrisania, about a half-mile from where police said 16-year-old Evette Jeffrey was shot and killed as a bystander Monday.
Officials said there was no early indication that the two shootings were related, but said the man and the boy also appeared to be bystanders.
First responders took the man to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his left arm, and the boy was also treated there for injuries to his face, according to the NYPD.
Police said they took someone in their 20s into custody for questioning but had not yet made any arrests by Wednesday morning. The shooting allegedly originated from a group of people at the intersection, and officials were investigating what sparked it.
The NYPD also said it was investigating another shooting in the Bronx that injured a 15-year-old boy who told police he was coming out of a store with his mother on Williamsbridge Road in Allerton.
The boy was shot once in his left leg and walked into Jacobi Hospital around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to officials. Police did not immediately have information about a suspect or motive but said the teen was likely not the intended target of the shooting.
And just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to two men who were shot outside a methadone clinic on Court and Bush streets in Red Hook, according to officials.
The NYPD said a 64-year-old man was grazed on the right side of his face and a 58-year-old man was shot in both of his legs. Both men were taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition, and police were looking for a suspect.
Shootings across New York City were down by more than 15% as of May 11, compared to the same period last year, NYPD data shows. There were 229 shootings by that point this year, down from 271 in 2024.
