The Inevitable Whole Foods Williamsburg Approaches!

Of course Whole Foods is trying to open a store on Bedford. Of course.
Coming soon to Williamsburg?
In the time it will take Whole Foods to wrap itself around that landmarked building in Gowanus, the borough of Brooklyn may well already have gotten a Whole Paycheck to call its own. That's right, the Post is reporting that the loved and loathed upscale market is close to signing a deal to anchor another new luxury building in Williamsburg.
If the deal comes together the massive store—9,000 square feet on the ground floor, 30,000 square feet underground—will take the plum spot at 242 Bedford Avenue where there is currently a stalled construction site (the last round of rumors had a CVS and a Marshalls coming). In addition to the organic foods, it appears that the New York Sports Club is eyeing another 15,000 square feet on the second floor of the building, which would then be topped off with luxury rental apartments (natch).
For now, though, neither Whole Foods nor NYSC are talking about the plans and the company that recently bought the site for $23 million says that "several national tenants are interested." So maybe the Gowanus Whole Foods will be the first to the checkout line? Either way, a Brooklyn Whole Foods is clearly going to happen.
