Take A Peek At Pennsy, The New Gourmet Food Hall Above Penn Station

To describe the dining landscape in and around Penn Station as bleak would be an understatement. But a new food hall—yes, another one!—seeks to take some of the pain out of a pre-train/pre-MSG meal with a lineup of top chefs (and one literal Top Chef), some of whom are debuting new fast casual concepts. The Pennsy—the nickname of the Pennsylvania Railroad—opens for service today at 2 Penn Plaza inside the old Borders Books space. Remember books?

Most importantly, the food hall will be home to Cinnamon Snail's first brick-and-mortar outpost after taking their food truck out of daily circulation last year. Their delicious vegan delights—their Korean BBQ Seitan is the stuff of dreams—will be sharing space with Mario by Mary, an Italian fast casual spot by Mario Batali and Mary Giuliani; Lobster Press, an on-the-go crustacean stall by Marc Forgione; Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, serving up carnivore-friendly sandwiches; and the second location of The Little Beet, a vegetable eatery by Top Chef Masters star Franklin Becker. There's also a bar.

The Pennsy will serve during lunch and dinner hours beginning at 11 a.m. daily with special post-game or concert hours 'til 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and an 8 p.m. curfew on Sundays.
