Watch Unflappable NYers React To A Rat On The Subway With Characteristic Indifference
June 6, 2019, 1:12 p.m.
These New Yorkers climbing up the subway pole to avoid a rat have not seen it all.

Among our favorite subgenres of only-in-NYC stories is the classic RAT TRAIN PANICβafter all, you're not a real New Yorker until a rat crawls over your face while you're sleeping on the D train. Everyone deals with stress in different ways, and if that means desperately climbing up the subway pole while avoiding a tiny little squeaker brushing against your leg while on the express train, then we wish you all the best.
Is the best moment from this video, which was taken on Wednesday in Manhattan, when it pans to the woman climbing toward the ceiling, or when sheer panic breaks out as the camera flips upside down and people start running through the aisle?
Below, you'll see another video showing adults playing a hearty game of "the floor is lava" on the train:

But there is a happy ending to this story, assuming that you don't consider a rat being stomped or kicked a happy ending: the rat got off at Times Square and lived to menace more straphangers another day!
Update: he got off on 42nd in a hurry. Must of been late or something pic.twitter.com/2skxcgE3pe
