The event is inspired by 'ball culture and the clubs and parties that have inhabited the Meatpacking District and Chelsea for decades.'
The second annual High Line Hat Party turned the elevated urban park into a runway on Thursday night, with hundreds of people showing off their imaginative head gear.
Kizha Carr (Terren Wooten Clarke) hosted, with House of Labeija, Rupaul's Drag Race alum Dusty Ray Bottoms, Ragamuffin, and many more strutting their stuff in front of judges, including Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver, and DJ Lady Bunny. (The High Line's Instagram Stories captured the energy of the night.)
The party, which raises money for the High Line and its programs, is inspired by "ball culture and the clubs and parties that have inhabited the Meatpacking District and Chelsea for decades," according to organizers.
The winners were High Line member Jacinta Stewart, winning first place with a towering bee hat; designer Purely Patricia getting second place with an elaborate headdress; and artist Aki Sasamoto taking third with a laundry tableau hat.
