Paul Rudd Slimes Himself Announcing He's Starring In 'Ghostbusters' At Original NYC Firehouse

Earlier this year, we learned that director Jason Reitman would follow in the footsteps of his father Ivan Reitman by directing and co-writing a new Ghostbusters movie (that has nothing to do with the last Ghostbusters reboot). And today, we found out that Paul Rudd will be starring in it—he made the announcement by heading downtown and filming himself outside of Hook & Ladder 8, a.k.a. the original Ghostbusters HQ.

Watch Rudd make the Ghostrudders announcement below while sliming himself. For some reason, he adopts Will Ferrell's cadence from Anchorman to do so. In the video he says:

You see, this is what happens every day: people coming out, taking pictures of this magnificent building. And really, can you blame them? Can you blame them? It's such an epic film. I love it, I'm a fan. When I heard that Jason Reitman was going to be doing a new version in the fall, and my agents called him and said, "Hey Jason, we hear there's a part of a young...semi-young, strapping man that needs to be cast. Who you gonna call?" When I heard they were gonna call me, well, as you can imagine, I nearly slimed myself. I can't wait to join the cast this fall for Ghostbusters. In fact I'm sliming myself right now.

"I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance," Reitman said in a statement. "I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe."

Variety reports that Rudd will play a teacher in the film. The cast also reportedly includes the great Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as a single mom and her son (which sounds...a lot like the plot from the original Ghostbusters). Mckenna Grace (Gifted) is apparently also in talks to join the film, and there has been a lot of rumors that all or some of the original Ghostbusters cast—including Sigourney Weaver—may be in it as well. That even includes Bill Murray!
