Coney Island Gets New 4,000 Capacity Venue

Coney Island is getting a new open-air concert venue. In May, music production company DEG Presents will open a 20,000-square-foot attraction called Amuse, situated just off the boardwalk, in the midst of the beach’s outdoor mural museum Coney Island Art Walls.
Amuse will take the form of a large, cube-shaped tent with a capacity of 4,000. “The objective is to create a really immersive environment for the fans to enjoy,” DEG Presents owner, Eddie Dean, told Billboard. “It is a site that is flexible and we’re open to doing all different types of lifestyle and cultural events as well.”
Programming at Amuse will take place—loosely—between Memorial Day and Labor Day every summer, so summer dance parties will likely be in abundance. The events will be orchestrated in collaboration with KM Productions, an event sound, lighting, and visuals company. The venue will also feature a rotating roster of food and drink pop-ups; these concession options will be curated based on the theme of the production going on at the time.
Amuse will be the second mid-size open-air concert space at Coney Island—the nearby Ford Amphitheater, which has a capacity of 5,000, is operated by LiveNation. This summer's calendar at Ford includes shows by Wu-Tang Clan, Coheed & Cambria, and Boys II Men.
