BTS And Their ARMY Storm SummerStage For 'Good Morning America' Performance
May 15, 2019, 11:20 a.m.
Next up: performing on the 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' tonight.
After waiting on a sidewalk for seven days (in unseasonably cold and very rainy weather), fans of the Korean pop band BTS were finally allowed into Central Park to see the group's Good Morning America performance this morning.
Listen to the screams of fans—aka ARMY:
GOOD MORNING AMERICA! WE 💜@bts_twt! #BTSonGMA pic.twitter.com/5JzFk2ajAk

The NYPD even got into the act of hyping fans on their way into the park:

The police were also very concerned about fan safety:
The moment the #BTSarmy (and us😂) have been waiting for!
Remember safety first, safety second, & coolness third! If you are in the audience please don’t push or shove & enjoy the show! #BTSonGMA #BTS #CentralPark pic.twitter.com/nXuWn0pvmH— NYPD 19th Precinct 💜 (@NYPD19Pct) May 15, 2019
Some of these fans have been in line for days and are very excited, so we called in officer Kim of @nypdrecruit for backup! #BTSarmy, you’ve come this far, please walk, don’t run, and remember: safety first, safety second & coolness third! @GMA #BTSonGMA pic.twitter.com/Huu5En5V67

BTS is in the middle of a tour—they were in Chicago last week and will be at MetLife Stadium later this week—as they continue their steady domination of America. They've tied a record with the Beatles (three number 1 albums in one year); a Billboard Award for Best Duo/Group; become the first K-pop group to present at the Grammys; performed on Saturday Night Live; etc. Now, they've kicked off GMA's Summer Concert Series at SummerStage, with their songs "Boy with Luv" and "Fire."

Many of the BTS ARMYs explained that they admired the group's work ethic—apparently, BTS wasn't a product of the major K-pop labels, which separates them from other K-pop groups ("Their style wasn't like anyone else's!" one fan said)—and their humility. They also pointed out how BTS maintains a very strong connection with fans, and they did talk on the show about how their hit "Boy with Luv" is a message to fans.
And those ARMYs helped make #BTSonGMA the number one trending hashtag on Twitter:
#BTSonGMA is the #1 trend, WORLDWIDE on @Twitter!#BTSARMY, we are SO grateful and SO happy to have brought @BTS_twt to Central Park! https://t.co/hiQnkUykZY pic.twitter.com/FNs5rWkCck

And after that, BTS will be making NJ Transit very, very worried:
NJ TRANSIT offers rail and bus service to BTS concert this weekend, May 18th & 19th, at MetLife Stadium. As large crowds exit the event, customers may be subject to wait times of up to two hours to board trains from MetLife Stadium to Secaucus. https://t.co/jRqrVhNa2O pic.twitter.com/BFmREPaibO
