Between the girl-on-girl stripteases Taylor Momsen's been treating us to and the overwhelming blandness that is everything about Jessica Szhor, this day was bound to come: TV Line reports that neither Little Jenny Humphrey nor Vanessa are being asked to return for Season 5 of the CW's Gossip Girl. We knew Blair Waldorf would win in the end!

The move isn't really shocking: Momsen's gone from cute little Cindy Lou Who to scarily-eyelinered Goth slut, and has not been shy in voicing her desire for her musical career to take center stage. Last year, despite being listed as a cast regular, Momsen was placed on "indefinite hiatus" from the show, and no one really seemed to mind. Szhor "starred" last year alongside CGI fish in Piranha 3-D, and is generally just really boring. Her character, Vanessa, recently announced that she's going to get some culture into her system by studying abroad next year. Bon voyage!

Blake Lively (Serena), Leighton Meester (Blair) Penn Badgley (Dan), Ed Westwick (Chuck) and Chace Crawford (Nate) are all aboard for the upcoming season, as is newcomer Kaylee DeFer, who joined the cast earlier this season as Serena's cousin Charlie. And while both Momsen and Szhor may return for the occasional guest episode, it seems that fans aren't too devastated by the loss: @alexeivee wrote: "Gossip Girl drops Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr and will not return to the show next year as regulars. There is a God!"
