The Bushwick venue said in an Instagram post that it was not able to meet a final inspection deadline.

Live music venue the Brooklyn Mirage canceled its sold-out reopening concert on Thursday, just hours before it was slated to begin.
“We want to be clear: the venue is show ready and the New Mirage has been built to exacting safety, structural, mechanical and technical specifications,” the Bushwick venue wrote in an Instagram post. “However, we were not able to meet the final inspection deadline today.”
The venue said all ticketholders would be fully refunded for the event, a show by hard-techno DJ Sara Landry.
“This isn’t about construction, but compliance,” the post continued. “We’re working closely with city officials and will continue to be transparent throughout this process.”
Brooklyn Mirage did not say when it would reopen. It is owned by parent company Avant Gardner.
According to city records, the Mirage currently has three DOB construction permits on hold due to administrative action as of Thursday.
The city’s Department of Buildings referred questions about the situation to City Hall, which directed reporters to the venue’s statement.
Landry, who was also scheduled to perform a second sold-out show at the Mirage on Friday, posted an emotional Instagram video Thursday apologizing to fans.
“I am so gutted to be in this position, and my heart is broken,” Landry said in the clip. “I just want to apologize to you guys and say I’m sorry that things are not going to be working as we thought that they would tonight.”
She added that she had been working closely with Avant Gardner CEO Josh Wyatt for months and had just learned of the cancellation.
The Mirage has been closed for months as it worked on building a larger dance floor and better sound systems. In the past week, many fans on social media shared photos of the space appearing to still be under construction, and expressed doubt it would open on time.
The Brooklyn Mirage previously made headlines after two patrons – Karl Clemente and John Castic, both 27 – were found dead in the nearby Newtown Creek in the summer of 2023, sparking rumors of a local serial killer.
Avant Gardner did not immediately return Gothamist’s request for comment.
